Exclamation 99 F250 7.3 diesel tranny problems

Okay so about a year or so ago the truck was used to haul a trailer with a truck on it and it overheated the tranny and caused it to spill all of the fluid, So after that we filled it back up and it didn't have any leaks or anything like that, all was fine until we tried to pull a trailer or a heavy load or just got on the pedal hard any time it had to work hard since then it spills all of the fluid - i am assuming from over heating and it only spills it when it is REALLY HOT or when it is hot and we come to a stop usually not when it is moving unless it is really hot, so you see my problem someone told me they had a similar problem and told me to buy a cooler we are about to buy a heavy duty tranny oil cooler w/fan and i was just wondering if anyone has had a problem like this and if they solved it another way oh and we have emptied it and replaced the fluid many times and changed the inline filter no luck so far. any help is much appreciated.

The best bet would be to monitor the flow through the coolers. You could do this by removing the rear cooler line at the transmission. Then make sure fluid flows out the line while engine running, in park or nuetral. 1 quart in 20 seconds is general rule. Other than that. I would say the converter hub seal has lost its integrity to seal when excessive converter lube pressure is placed on it or it reaches a certain hot temp. If fluid flow is good through coolers then it problably time for the newest design hub seal. Or, do another cooler, then a seal

where is it leaking the fluid from ? this makes a diffrence in diagnosis.........if it is coming from the front then yes replace the pump seal(common ford problem) if its coming from the over flow you have an internal problem
