Question 92 2.5 to 2.8 swap

Anyone know how much stuff I would have to change on my truck to go from a 2.5 4 cyl to the 2.8 v6? I was trying to do some crossreferencing on parts to see which ones interchange, and I got as far as the clutch, and fuel pump, supposedly the clutch kit @ advance auto parts is the same for both trucks, flywheel is different, but I'm thinkin that's just for balance reasons and crank bolts, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if the alt is the same, if I can use the same radiator, and how much of the wiring harness I'm gonna have to splice, also will the rear of the motor be in the same location, or do I have to fab a tranny crossmember and change my driveshaft length. ?? Only reason I'm asking is cause I have a 2.8 that I can put in for free, and my 2.5 is getting kinda whooped (192,000) Any and all help is as usual greatly appreciated.
Josh

Re: 92 2.5 to 2.8 swap

why would u go through the trouble the 2.8 has like 140hp and the 2.5 has like 125 and gas milage is the same and the 2.5 is a more reliable motor if you are going through that much trouble small block it

Re: 92 2.5 to 2.8 swap

As I said I can get the 2.8 for free, also I can get a 4.3 for free, but I'm worried about the gas milage on the 4.3 tranny, etc. and my 2.5 has a worsening lifter knock

Re: 92 2.5 to 2.8 swap

once again dont put a 2.8 in anything every single one ive had has spun a bearing first time i revved it up would reccomend either the 350 or find a used head even if 2.8 is direct bolt in its a (s)crap motor and the best thing gm ever did to it was discontinue it. the 3100 3300 variants are good motors but still underpowered for a toy imho
