Question Gti Vs Golf

hey guys im a newb here(rare chance you saw me on as VWloverwithaCivic [got rid of the dumb name b4 i wasted too many post on it]) and was wonderin if i could get some feed back. im looking into buyin either a 95-98 Golf or GTI VR6 i know i would like the vr6 but as for insurance and price it has its downsides im wondering what you guys think but my biggest question is what will insurance be like on those two cars i will be 17 when i actually buy the car and i live in the sf bay area and are there any other suggests for a car to get. i really would rather not get a honda but if worst comes to worst. ill be saving my money up and then most likely taking out a loan if i need any more.

thanks a bunch

Well guy... Your one step ahead of me. As for insurance, the Golf will always be cheaper than the GTI. I mean the GTI is rated as a "performance automobile" (correct me if I'm wrong) and the Golf is kinda like economy compact wagon. As for your location. There is no possible way your insurance rates will be higher than mine. I live in Miami. 'Nough Said.

Well right now I'm insured for a '96 4runner. It costs around $2*** every 6 months, and that includes the discounts I got for having a good GPA and taking driver's ed. You get a certain percent of because of those things. Also, I'm under my parent's name in the insurance. If I wasn't it'll be around 5k every 6 months.
