Angry how do you check the tranny fluid

97 Jetta : I need to figure out how much tranny fluid is in my tranny. how do i do this?! i really dont want the tranny to dieand when i find the fill hole how do i know how much to put in if any?!

you locate the drain hole. there are 2 large, very large sized hex located on the under side of the transmission. You cant miss them. The lower one is a drain hole. the upper a fill hole. It is smart practice to open the fill hole before the drain hole, that way if you cant get the fill hole out your not screwed.

If you decide to add any fluid, you'll need the VW specific transmission fluid (it's not the same as the red fluid used in many domestic vehicles...the vw fluid is clear if I remember correctly).
