Throttle Position Sensorldwain 06-12-2007, 02:12 PM I need a new TPS. Car jerks when I try to maintain a constant speed and the idle is running high. I went to my local shop and they want to charge me $439 to install one. I know I can buy the part for less than half that much. I often do my own car work when I can and have a tach and dwell meter. Is it that difficult to do? RossT 06-12-2007, 11:22 PM Need year and trany type (different parts for auto vs 5-speed). They even changed with the years too. My 91 auto has a different one than my 93 auto. The neck is alot longer. I have many extra for automatics, but none for the 5-speeds.. ldwain 06-13-2007, 03:57 PM I have a 1994 Metro, Automatic, 1.0 liter. sgeorge 06-14-2007, 12:11 AM mine did same thing. $68.oo at napa or i pulled mine at salvage yard for $5.00 works great steve RossT 06-14-2007, 12:18 AM I should have a couple of known good ones, let me double check. I should be able to get one to you priority USPS for about $10 total shipped. If your interested give me an e-mail ro22tol@hotmail.com someone tried to PM yesterday and It didn't come thru. Ross 91Caprice9c1 06-16-2007, 06:52 PM Did you try adjusting the TPS? ldwain 06-18-2007, 12:11 PM Someone else suggested that. Didn't even think of doing that since I didn't know anything about the TPS and didn't even know it could be adjusted. So I followed the instructions I found on this forum and used my DMM and "Voila"! It seemed to work. The hesitation and jerking at constant speeds disappeared! And to think a local autoshop was ready to charge me $439 to replace it. Yikes! Thanks to all of you! 91Caprice9c1 06-20-2007, 03:13 AM Someone else suggested that. You should go back to that shop and politely shove it in their face. I don't like places like that giving the people of my profession a bad name.
