david and goliath (crx vs cuda)

this started a few weeks ago, here is the first thread (my challenge)

After witnessing a Honda hatch smoke an engine 4x its size this weekend, I'm starting to wonder what is under their hoods. Suppoesedly the hatch I saw had no N2O or turbo. How is it done?

the guy told me he had a J-spec engine

when he was reving it for us it was going to 9 grand, no troubbles

But even if that hatch & the CRX that went up against the Hemi Cuda had "J Spec", there are too many different #'s to be sure. Like if I wanted to hook up a hatch, would I get a B18C5, F20C, K20A DC5, B16B? Some of these powertrains cost $7k.

the motor is a b18c1 the motor is completly measured and blueprinted, it also has a rather large turbo (yes lots of time went into this car). it set us back total around 4 grand and some change I really don't understand how these ppl have to spend that much money on making a fast car, dear lord what I could do with 10 g's. (the motor was blown when I got it)
thanks guys and to tell you the truth that car behind me then beside me scared the crap out of me! I coulden't even hear my motor (yea that was bad), damn that was a nice car. I also give thanks to my disturbed cd and my headphones I get nervewrecked without that cd playing lol.

by a car length and then I realized we were in a neighborhood and slowed the hell down!

And judging that you towed it, its not street legal?

Well, then i can see how the CRX would have a chance at a Hemi Cuda.

the del slow and the crx are two different cars, the del sol is Hybridsol's daily driver, its fast just not fast enough to catch my teg.:hehe: :silly2:

actually the CRX and the delsol are two different cars, I lost on the way there to my buddy in his gsr and he's always an ass about winning.

Can't help you there, but I can show you how to get 1000hp out of a Ford 400M for a few grand... I'm sure I could do it for a rat too.

Steel crank/rods, new heads, EFI, DIS and two garrett T4 turbos...

I think the only problem you might run into with the 400M is with emissions, because it's an older engine in a newer car... not quite sure how that works. Doesn't mean that you can't put 4 cats on it, and run it on propane for the emissions testing! Hell, why not run it on propane all the time... Did ya know that propane doesn't get taxed as auto fuel if you have it delivered to your house?

Yeah Neutrino, there is a replacement for displacement, light weight paired with a big turbo.

I must say congrats to both, it is that old steel body and frame that are slowing that Cuda down, had it weighed as much as that CRX, HOLY CRAP! I must congrat the CRX, though I don't think it is streetable any longer, and don't worry that CRX has used pretty much all of it potential, you still have endless room for your Hemi, afterall top fuelers run 426 Hemis bored out to 500.

So is that a Hurst Hemi Cuda? I don't know the specs for that car, but the Hemi Dart weighed 2200lbs... Sell that Cuda and get yourself an A body! :)

Well al lthe 426 Hemis produce over 500HP stock, so if they dropped a Hemi in the 68 Cudas then your answer is yes. I do know for a fact that they made a Hemi Belvedere, very light. It came with a disclaimer that there was no warranty because they knew that people would take them straight from the dealership to the track.

As for the CRX, you are going to be able to squeeze much more out of it, 10s is about the most you'll get out of that engine, perhaps a little quicker, but not much. As for the Hemi, you could get about 7000HP and 4s and 3s runs out of that. :D

my friend you live in a different world than I, the day I see a hemi run 4's or 3's is the day hell freezes over and pigs fly. lol, You obviously don't have a strong understaning of honda motor's so why boast that I have squeezed every last drop (metaphoracaly) of hp out of (OUR) car, a bit presumtious arent we (the aem civic runs 8's)? I got nothin but luv for ya man, I know your good with the big domestics, I myself luv the stangs. How many hemi's have you seen running 3's??????? with 7000HP????? that guy wouldent get enough traction to run 3's. If I'm wrong please show me Its just hard for me to believe.:)

If you have ever watched top fuel drag racing then you have seen a 7000HP Hemi run 4s and 3s in the 1/4 mile. All top fuel dragsters use a 426 Hemi bored out to 500. He really could if he had the time and money but it was more of a joke and to show that the Hemi in his Cuda has MUCH more potential that ANY Honda engine.

I guess hell must be a cold place and pigs can really fly.

If you think you can get 8s out of that engine go right ahead, chances are you are going to blow it up. If you don't you will have put WAY more money then it is worth into that engine when you could have swapped in an engine that would have done that much easier and for a lot less money.

All I am trying to say is that Honda engines are worthless for drag racing. They have no low end torque, hell they have no torque at all. To get a descent time out of those engines you have to sink in a lot of time and money into it, more than it is worth to me. Then again perhaps it is a hobby for some people to make a Honda engine move like that, simply to show that it can. In my opinion, it is just a waste of time and money.

never! there were 70 of these cars made this is a complete replication of the Barracuda done up by hurst for the drag strip. I love that car more than life, yea she done me wrong in that race but that just gives me time to work with her.
