DOHC Duratec 01 Ford Taurus Serpentine Belt Removal

Hi All,

I have replaced serpentine belts on many cars including the Ford OHV engine, but the Duratec has me baffled.

The bolt head on the tensioner pulley (13mm) that faces the engine block appears to be a mounting bolt and not a bolt head used to force the tensioner to release tension. See figure B.

On the back side of the tensioner pulley is what appears to be a square hole. I tried to fit both a 3/8 inch breaker bar and a serpentine belt removal tool with a square head fitting between the wheel well and the tensioner. Not enough room, probably less than 1/2 inch. See figure A.

In fact the fitting for the serpentine belt removal tool could not be slipped in by itself.

Any ideas or suggestions????

Your help is appreciated and thank you for looking this over!!!!!!!!
