2000 Caravan A/C Troubleshooting

I have been trying to troubleshoot this A/C problem with no luck. With the car running and the A/C on... both low and high side pressures are 90psi. As the car continues to run the low side goes higher up to around 120psi and the high side rises to just a little over 100psi. When the fan turns on (assumimg from high temp) the high side drops back down to 90psi. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: 2000 Caravan A/C Troubleshooting

For A/C specific questions, try this forum, it seems to have a lot of knowledgeable A/C folks. I'm over there getting help diagnosing the rear air on my '97 T&C right now.

First, 90 psi is way too high on low side, she should read about 34 psi at idle and a +80F day. Start by bleeding the low side down to get it in limits and see what happens.

Are you aware of the protocols for handling refrigerant?

Ok. Assuming everything is properly installed you either have a bad TXV or a bad compressor. it may be best to let a pro handle this from here. there is quite a bit of danger in handling refrigerant.

Re: 2000 Caravan A/C Troubleshooting

Thanks webbch, I will check out that A/C Forum. Dmurphy05, Thanks for your advice, if I can't narrow this down and if it isn't something obvious I will let the pro's handle it.
