96 grandcaravan charging problems....

Man these past 2 days have been HELL!!!

ok i replaced the battery, alternator, wires and im still getting the light and afterwhile the van will die. To make things worse both my battery and my alternator checked out good......so i just spent well over 300.00 on new stuff when my old crap was already good.....oh and i can't return any of this stuff...

I think my next move is getting a new "BIG" belt because while i was pulling in tonight the belt skipped...oh i just installed a new tensioner also.

Damn

There is a fusable link in line with the 10 gage black with grey stripe wire coming off the alternator. Not sure of the location. Probably near the battery.

I went ahead and just sold that damn van.........but it turns out the actual wires were are bad. So i had to change all the wires going to the alternator.

Re: 96 grandcaravan charging problems....

well, i went to advanced auto. they checked the battery, bought from them 2years ago. they said it was bad and replaced it and tested the system again , still not charging. the guy starts probing around the back of the alt and suddenly it starts charging. so i think running new wires to the alt might be it. so it fixed itself again. till the next time. i might try that when it warms up some
