Lotus 7 Group Build: Just ridiculous.
Here is the beginning of my rather ridiculous build of a Lotus 7. It doesn't yet look as bizarre as it will. But, this is my inspiration:
jayll's C6-R
How does that model inspire me? Well, when I first opened that thread, the chassis sans body tricked me into thinking I was looking at a outrageously modified 7. But then it occurred to me that I was looking at a Corvette chassis. And even though that model was amazing, I was a little sad that it wasn't a very modified 7. Then I thought, holy crap, why don't I modify my 7 like that!
So, the plan is to add the roll cage, add some ground effects on either side that go from behind the front wheels to the back wheels, to have my signature F20C (sticking out of the hood this time), black with an orange band around the nose and stripe down the length, cut the crap out of the back, add a fuel cell and a stupid big diffuser and make an otherwise normal... ish... car just beyond all reason.
At least I'm inspired. And motivated. And also should be arrested for MUI.

Weee!! Honda-ish seven!!
I love how the wheels match with it!! (Well,at least for me,they match the car very well!)
Little questions: Where are you borrowing the F20 from? Are you modding a revell engine? Will it be NA,or Turbo?!
Keep up the great work!

Re: Lotus 7 Group Build: Just ridiculous.
Coool. I like your inspiration and ideas.
It reminded me of some 7 concept drawings I found on this site- mycaterham.com. Maybe you'll find them interesting too?
 (Yeah, it's photoshopped)
But it would make for one bitchin' little 7, and it seems close to what you're thinking.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. And if you don't finish it 'in time', well, I'm thinking you won't be the only one....

Kinda looks like this one, my personal favorite. This is an image from gt4 but you get the idea. The caterham fireblade. Powered by a Honda Fireblade V4 motorcycle engine. Now thats just ridiculous!

Re: Lotus 7 Group Build: Just ridiculous.
Sounds like a cool project
Combining the general appearance of that C6R chassis w/a Lotus 7; I think it would be cool to open up the body panels to give it a minimalist exo-skeletal feel. I'd kill to own a Lotus 340R or Ariel Atom.

Re: Lotus 7 Group Build: Just ridiculous.
I've seen some pretty cool seven based racers when I was going thru a seven phase a few months back, and this one sounds like its going to be pretty mean. Black and orange are a good color combo for these, and the honda power plant just seems like it fits the nature of the car. Can't wait to see what kind of groud effects you have planned for it! Heres a fendered Donkervoort...

and another(same car i'd bet) that held a Nurburgring record
I was going to try and build a DV car like this..

but my scratchbuilding skills aren't up to the task of that nose...
Good luck Wil, I'll be looking forward to more of this project.

Re: Lotus 7 Group Build: Just ridiculous.
Okay, this is shaping up to be some kind of freakish oddity. I like!
maybe try to fit in a very small seat thingy? I have looked everywhere for seats for my little car that were small enough, they add to the general realistic appearance of the model. Just two cents. Oh, and another thing. You are under arrest for being too crazy.

Looks like it is going to be a fun project. The car does look very nimble and agile!

Re: Lotus 7 Group Build: Just ridiculous.
It's not sitting far enough down in the chassis. It's actually the seat from the Tamiya Accord racecars. I think it actually looks ok, but maybe I'm just cracked.
The seats I used in my other 7, which I think were perfect, were from the Fujimi Muffler Tune set (I think). It had a bunch of mufflers, seats, and other details.
