Hard Shifting 97 F250 Hd 5.8

The truck just started shifting hard into first and second gear... i checked the fluid and it still looks good and was in the hash marks.... any help or ideas would be great.

Check the linkage that operates the small lever on the the side of the trans. It should pop-off easy and you can check the function of the lever indenpendent of the linkage. If the lever operates OK, check the linkage going to the thottle body on the engine. If it works OK, take it to a trans. shop for diagnostics. It chould be electronics have gone bad on the valve body. Simple fix and cheaper than a complete overhaul.
