99 Beetle Window, Passenger Side

I'm struck again by the infamous VW Beetle window issue, and now my car is out of warranty... even the extended 7-year warranty VW provided.

It's the passenger-side that is affected.

I have removed the door trim, but I am stuck.

Based on Bentley manual, I am now suppose to disconnect the wiring from the connection at the A-pillar location and thread it back out towards the door so I remove the carriage assembly (where the wiring is hook-up to and to various parts including those plastic fasteners that keep them in place).

Anyways, if you've ever done this before, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

The part I'm stuck at is how the heck do I thread that wiring through the rubber bellow (the rubber hose thing that the wiring goes through to get from the cabin to the door... the rubber hose thing that you see by the door hinge when you open the door).

The wiring has a big plastic connector that terminates it and the rubber bellow is only big enough for the wires, not the connector.

The Bentley manual simply says to pull the wiring through the bellow and out so the wiring is free and the carriage assembly can be removed without the wiring holding it back.

If you've done this before, how did you over come this? I suppose I can cut off the connector and just patch it up later, but I want to make sure there isn't something much easier and proper I'm overlooking...

Thanks in advance.

Re: 99 Beetle Window, Passenger Side

Wow...
Not a single response...

Anyway... I got beyond that previous obstacle.

New obstacle...

I have the door trim off and ready to remove the inner carriage assembly. But before I can do that, I need to remove the window - glass - itself. But my window is completely down!!!!

I have the 2 rubber plugs taken off where I'm suppose to be able to access the bolts that hold the window, but I need to raise the window so those bolts to align with the holes.

Does anyone know how I would do this. I imagine anyone who runs into the window issues would likely have the windows all the down or in some ackward position where they'd have to someone raise or lower it into the position to align the bolts with the access holes.

Also, does the window have to be completely raised for the bolts to align.

Thanks in advance.
