Smile 3.8L 1992 lumina APV cam sensor

The engine starts great and idols fair cold, but then misses when driving. There are times however, that it would also run smoothly. I have coded the system and only code that shows, is the Cam sensor. First of all where is this located? Would you agree that changing the sensor would be a good starting point. I did change all wires and plugs. Thanks

If you have the ability to test it, do it before replacing it, if you cleared the code, did it reset??

Re: 3.8L 1992 lumina APV cam sensor

THe cam sensor allows rapid synchronisation of fuel injectors and if the car starts well, I do not think it is an issue.
Just to mention I had similar symtoms as those you mention ...and turned out a new spark plug wire set cleared the problem...so if you are still running the original wires, check for the easy things first as this is rather "normal maintenance".
The cam sensor is front of engine, behind coolant pump pulley....
