Exclamation why doesnt my tailights go off????

on my 00 jetta i replaced my taillights with custom euro lights. after a year of having them i started to experice a short or that what everyone says it is. well the brake lights dont go off when i exit the car. i tired to look for wire that were exposed and couldnt find any. what do i do i have no warrenty anymore and i want to fix it myself. what is the problem? how can i fix this? please some one help me....

Call the dealer and check and see if you have an open "n4" recall for the brake light switch. Its free
