Auto Seat BeltChapol 05-18-2007, 09:17 PM '90 Camry v6 LE: driver side shoulder belt will move out of the way (forward) but will not close around the driver (me). I bought and installed a used seat belt motor assembly, but it didn't change anything. Passenger belt seems to work ok (but can't unlock this door). Seems to me there's must be a switch or two someplace that tells the belt to move or retract. Where are the switches? I also read that it could be a bad wire in the door - to - body harness, but how do I get to the part going inside the auto body? I'm about to take the left side door panel off, but will I find anything there that pertains to the seat belt operation? :screwy: Chapol 06-23-2007, 05:09 PM I solved the problem by eventually repairing several broken wires between the door and frame with solderless connectors from Advance Auto. I also ended up with few other things working that hadn't worked in years (red door light for instance). bass1clef2 05-28-2008, 10:25 PM Not sure yet! We're having the exact same trouble with our 88 Camry! If you find out something before us, let us know! Have found other Toyota forums that post similar Q &A's! We'll let you know what we found! We did find that if the belt retracts in one direction, but not the other, the motor is not at fault, but that it's probably something else. What? Beats me? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
