Question Key lock cylinder

Need to change the key lock cylinder on my 1988 Corsica. Can anyone tell me how to get the old one out? Does the steering wheel have to come off? Any help much appreciated.

Re: Key lock cylinder

I have not taken one out of a Corsica, but, did on my Blazer. I had to remove the steering wheel and buy two tools to do the job, at Autozone. I will see what my 91 service manual says but yours might be slightly different as my 91 has an air bag system. Will get back to you if you have not already done this.

Re: Key lock cylinder

Thanks for the input. I have already done the job. The steering wheel had to come off and the turn signal assembly. The hard part was to know how to get the key-presence switch out, without mangling it, which I did. Otherwise, after borrowing a puller for the steering wheel it was not a bad job. Thanks again.
