my jetta's tail lights come on when i turn off the car and drains my batteries what is the problem? how can i fix it? please help

My brake lights just dont turn off after letting off the brakes. Maybe this is what is happening, if so try just pulling the pedal back to see if they turn off. I have tape around the pedal that makes contact with the botton that turns the lights off and on so i dont have to pull the pedal back every time i brake.

There is a recall on this type of problem take it to your dealer and they will fix it for free! I just took mine in it only takes about an hour and make sure to ask to have ALL recalls done for your car before you run into another problem.
