Well, I don't think I've seen ANY of these kits here on AF yet, so here's my go at something I have in my stash until I can get a polishing kit. So far, the kit is just the same as the convertible, which is to say just a bare step below Tamiya. The plastic is a bit thicker, but things fit together really nicely. The new coupe body is really sexy looking, and as you can see, the tailgate opens up, and the rear bumper is it's own piece.

Bonus points if you can tell what else I've got waiting for the primer to dry on, haha.

Looks like a Ford GT that's drying. This kit looks very nice. I think I'll have to pick one up. Is this a Revell kit? Looking forward to more!

What is the green hard foamy stuff for flowers to stick in, Alex?

I was trying to do the coupe in black untill the paint decided to crap out..(regular prolly expired testors black from the WM) oooo evil:( Black with white or silver stripes.

What's yours going to be colored like?

Neat so far!! Wich color you have in mind?
I agree with energon! It looks like a Ford GT...:p

That's AMT's Ford GT. Did you know that making it steer is extremely easy?! The spindles already pivot, and the tie rod is hidden. Just bend a paper clip, drill two holes, and you've got poseable wheels. Anway, nice Viper.

Well, I moved onto step two of primer for this Viper. There are two colors I'll be using on this car, one for the stripes, one for the body color, but I haven't decided which yet. I have a Snowfrost Mustang with blue stripes, so that leans me toward doing Devil with Snowfrost stripes, but I'd love people's opinions :)

I'm also trying to redeem myself and hone my airbrush skills. The Mustang had some orange peel I didn't like, so I switched to cans for a while because I got frustrated and got really bad orange peel. Actually, this Viper was supposed to be Lambo orange, but the basecoat peeled so bad, I sanded it all down and reprimed. So, here's hoping I can do this one right. I read a tutorial somewhere that said paint until it looks like you've got orange peel, then stop. That's worked on the MX-5 I just started from a can, and it's really worked. So here goes nothing!

I think that'll be a great color combo! I want to see it on the car!

Two more pictures. Still haven't decided whether or not to go with red stripes, or a red body. Opinions? This is just two light coats of the silver paint. I dunno if I should do more or not. Once again, opinions?

I'd say silver stripes, red body. That my two cents anyway. Looking good!

I painted the body last night. I'm debating whether or not polish first, then clear, since these are light coats of airbrushing, or clear then polish. Regardless, I like how this came out.

That is sick! I really like this kit. I've opened mine and looked at it. Haven't decided what to do with it yet. I love that red on yours.

Nice color combo. I just painted a mustang with a pearl blue and these colors don't really take to polishing too well. (Your silver looks to be very metallic). I'd vote for clearing then polishing.

Good work so far!

jmwallac: If you search back a bit, you'll find out that I also did a Mustang with a bit of Cobra Colors blue to it :)

But enough about that. Here's the Viper with two medium coats of TS-13 clearcoat

I dunno if it shows in the pictures, but the metallics really jumped out when I cleared the car. Thanks for all the comments, everybody :)

Well, I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that this car is gonna be put on hold until the week of July 4th. I promised my best friend's girlfriend that I would teach her how to build model cars, and even bought her one (the new Revell '69 Camaro SS Motion Performance) for her birthday. So the Viper will get built while she's building, and until then, I'm working on a Z06. But the good news is that before I said I'd put it off, I got the engine completed, so here are those pictures.

^it looks like to me that the cylinder head is coming off or not wanting to stay on!
but not bad at all
question= was the prototype engine black in the svt ram?

deltableh

The heads are on nice and securely. It probably was a slightly warped part. And no, this engine came with the kit. And according to a site I use for reference shots, this is how the engine looks. You gotta remember, this is the new Viper Coupe, not the old one. Bonnet hinges at the back.

lovely paintjob!, good colours and great masking job too!

Can i give you some dummy advice (as always from me :) ). A gentle blackwash will do the engine justice, on the metallic parts. Just two cents to make it really stand out!

Well, I'm gonna take this kit up again because I'm back from my 4th of July break, and still nobody has completed this kit. Hopefully there will be some progress soon!

Oli: Thank you for the advice. I'm going for a very showroom stock look here, so the shinier the better. In addition, I'm always hesitant about ruining my kit while learning a new technique. I'm gonna try a brownish wash on the tan leather seats I'll be doing for my MX-5 (also will be updated soon)

Well, the engine has been installed onto the chassis.
