01 tribute e-brake

Hi All, I have an e-brake cable that is not happy about retracting. I opened the rear drums and the springs appear to be functioning properly so I'm guessing the cable is stretched. Is this a common thing for 70k and is it a pain to replace? Thank you

It could also be rusted internally.

I haven't changed it, but if you managed to get the drums off, the cable should not be that difficult.

Please let us know, if you do it.
