Hi to all:

Here are a couple of pictures of one of my ongoing cars!
Presently the body of the MR-2 is beeing striped of the paint 'cause the clear coat reacted with the TS light metalic blue and ruined it! I've to find a less agressive clear!!

That dash looks VERY nice! I love these cars, looking forward to more! Did you make those wheels?

Great details. I like the rims. Are they from the Hasegawa racing civic?

Thanks for all your comments.

The wheels are indeed from the racing EG6 kit, but I haded a plastic card strip to allow the use of wider tires (that I also had, leftovers from another built).

I'm still striping the paint the sw20 body frame (Tamiya lacquers are very resistant to hipocloride, but the primer I've used is not, so I have to wait until all the primer is attacked, under the tamiya color). The body seams to be ok, and only the wing seams to need some sanding, but nothing to drastic.

I hope to post some pictures soon.

Cheers

Lovely! How did you do the white lettering on the instruments? It looks amazing.

The striping isn't finished yet! The hipochloride solution works very slowly.
Tamiya lacqers are very resistant to this method of striping!!!

But I hope to be ready to prime the body next week!

All the whit details on the dash board were done with a fine bush (number 0).

You could try 91% rubbing alcohol. Took my Tamiya lacquer off in 45 min, and left the plastic completely intact! The model looks like new.

Finally an update!

Stripping the paint left some marks but fortunately not very apparent.

Here are some photos of the repainted car! Some details are still to be haded in order to finish it.

It looks very cool, this shade of blue suits the car very well!

How did you make the 'glassy' look of the instrument panel? It looks like the original one...

Nicely executed, the paint came out nice. Also the interior is clean and simple. Looks great, one thing i would mention though would be to lower it a bit. Excellent mazda!

Paint looks really good. I agree about the stance; it's sitting like a rally car.

Excellent mazda!

I thought it was a Toyota? :icon16:

Its finally completed!

I'll post some photos in the completed projects subforum.

The front should be a lot lower, but the front fittings of the kit a very fragile and I'm afraid to break the body if I try to force it a bit more!

The glassy look of the instrument panel was obtained applying a coat of Marabu gloss varnish.

hi Sir,

I have a 1/1 version of this car, and recently found a model for it. I've never built anything like this before, but hopefully mine will turn out half as nice as yours did.

What type of paint did you use for the clear taillights and corners?
