My '01 LS won't release the glass... so I can't let down the tailgate
I've tried pushing / pulling on the glass while hitting the release button.
I hear the stepper motor activiating but no joy on popping the glass.
Does anybody have any ideas on how to get the glass to release manually? I tried prying the plasic inner panel out with no luck (I'm about to cut into the stupid panel ... or break the glass !!):banghead:

any help would be greatly apreciated !!!!

There is a way to open the glass. My daughter is having the same problem except we get no sound of any kind trying to open.
What you need to do is find a small hole in the pannel in the top middle behind the carpet inset, just below the plastic. take a thin screwdriver into that hole and there is a lever that needs to be moved to the left. that should release the glass. I found this on the net last night and try and find it again and post the link.

I've been reading forums and I could not get the rear window to open. I was going out of my mind. and BAM, there is a small hole where you said. clicked it to the left and pop. thanks so much:lol2:
