Security Light On constantly

So I just got my oil changed last night at one of those quick lube places. Eveything seemed alright and I drove the car around at night.

This morning on my commute to work about 20 minutes in the security light comes on and does not go away. I shut off the car at a stoplight and restarted fine but the light is still there.

Anyway the car has been starting fine but the light is always present (steady not blinking). Should I be worried or will has the secuirty system just been disabled permanently?

Does this really work?

Re: Security Light On constantly

Anyone have any experience with resetting the light? If I disconnect the battery will it reset the light? Or should I just do the leave the ignition in on for 30 mins then crank the car?

Any advice would be appreciated.

The above post is just a relearn on certain systems that have lost there memory. It is not a fix if it has a PROBLEM.
A battery disconnect will not clear codes and even if the code is cleared if it has a problem the light will come back on.
On a 03 I would get in and have the body codes check and find out why the light is on.
Your dealer may have a PCM reprogram or recall or some TSB's on it.
Good Luck

OK Thanks. I think the solid security light means there was a porblem with the security system while the vehicle was moving. Therefore I am hoping that I can clear the code light by disconecting the battery.

I had the same issue in my car back in October, and disconnecting the battery won't solve your problem. The dealer pulled code B2960 (problem in passlock sensor.) They ended up replacing the ignition lock cylinder. This might be your problem. Also, if you have an aftermarket remote starter on your car, this might do it also. Just my

Disconnected the battery last night for about 7 min. Reset my clock on the radio but that is about it. Next I'll try the relearn sequence but I have tro get my hands on a battery charger first.
