Stalling Problems

95 K1500 5.7 w/TBI

I recently installed a reman engine with new sensors/switches/PS pump/batt and cables/clutch and fork/Dist, cap and coil/plugs and wires/vac lines and hoses/waterpump and cooling hoses. TBI rebuilt w/ new injectors, new fuel filter. Same starter and solenoid/alt/ac comp/fuel pump.

I set the timing and for one day, it ran like a champ. The check engine light is on, and I haven't had it cleared or checked yet. Was going to go to a shop close by to have it scanned and/or cleared, and on the way there, the truck was running fine until I would turn a corner. If my RPMs were high enough, it was ok, but if the RPMs dropped as I was turning, say to come to a stop, the truck would die, and it would only do it if the truck was in a turn. All the electrical stuff would stay on, IE; lights, gauges, etc. The truck would start right up afterwards though. I just drove it back home in case it was something serious, so I haven't had a hance to check it out.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Re: Stalling Problems

Did the check engine light come on when you set the timing?
Did you disconnect the EST bypass wire to set the base time?

Light came on after the first time I started it, and I did disconnect the wire to set timing. One thing I did notice today was the wire coming from the O2 sensor has somehow come out of the sensor. My buddy noticed it. I don't know how long it was in that condition, so I pulled the sensor out, and kind of twisted the wire back in. SES light is still on, so I don't know if O2 sensor is still bad. Weather is kind of crappy so can't do much to it for now.

One other bit of info. The new dist and coil are JEGS brand. Have never used any of their parts before, so I don't know their rep. Any insight?

Thanks for the reply.

Re: Stalling Problems

If the 02 Wire was disconnected, it will set a code. If that is your problem, the light will go out after a couple of trips.

You should be able to get code using a jumper between A and B on the ALDL connector. See www.troublecodes.net/GM

Re: Stalling Problems

I checked the codes and turns out I had a loose connection on the MAP sensor.

Thanks for all the help
