97 Blazer Squealing

I have a 1997 Blazer and when I accelerate it squeals, but when I brake the squeal goes away. What could be the cause? Hopefully it isn't too expensive.

Re: 97 Blazer Squealing

It depends where the squeal is coming from. If it’s from under the hood, it could be the serpentine belt, belt tensioner, or idler pulley. If it’s coming from outside the vehicle, it could be a brake pad warning sensor indicating the brake pads are worn.

Re: 97 Blazer Squealing

When I put the brakes on, it goes away. Then when I release the pedal it starts up again. I believe I am due for new pads. So hopefully thats it.
