API Extended warranty company

Just thought I should share this here.

If you have a vehicle extended warranty from API, watch out. Apparently the company is folding and is no longer authorizing any warranty coverage on repairs.

I learned this today after trying to use my coverage on a fuel pump replacement on my Silverado. No dice from this outfit.

Fortunately my dealership in Forest lake, MN stood behind the warranty (they sold it to me with the truck) and is offering to cover it themselves, so kudos to them.

A lot of them do that.
And a lot of them wool you around with wanting to use used parts and cut labor.

Yes.
Factory dealer OEM are good.
But always read the fine print.
There is some normal wear things that are not covered and you may have a deductible per repair of around 100$.
I work on one persons car that has a cry/dodge used car extended warranty and they are extra good.
They always pay for brand new parts and full labor.
Even on starters or alternators.
A lot of after market warranty co. want to use used parts and cut labor on there repairs.
Good Luck

Right on MT. Never buy a extended warranty from a 3rd party unless you know alot about the company. Many of them go under and you are left with an expensive reciept. Only buy from the manufacturer, and then if they go under (god I hope not) whoever buys them will likely honor the warranty.

Re: API Extended warranty company

Stay away from extended warranties period.I have heard of one,the owner of the vehicle has to pay for an engine tear down. Some want an estimate before any repairs are done.

Re: API Extended warranty company

That is standard procedure for most of them.
They tell you to Tear down and estimate the they want to haggle you down on the repair estimate.
And then they will want to ship you in a old used engine from way off some place and pay about half the full labor to install it.

Re: API Extended warranty company

GM Total Plus extended warranty zero deductible. I've had this on a lot of my trucks and it is a no- quibble product covering normal wear and tear. It's nopt really a warranty but more like an insurance against breakdowns. Never any dealer hassles. Only things not covered is regular maintenance items like belts, oils, brakes , hoses.
