Question changin transmission fluid on 2000 ex v6

Does anyone know how to change the transmission fluid on the 2000 ex v6.

I think there is a plug on the underside of the car that drains it out, and then you fill it back up through the dipstick hole.

Is this right? How often should I change it. I probably go through about 20 full throttle accelerations a day and drive fast as hell all the time. So i'm wanting to keep my fluids in good shape. I use mobile 1 synthetic 5w-30 for every oil change and am wanting to keep my tranny fluid just as clean.

And ideas? tips?

yes theres a drain plug on the side of the case, takes a 3/8ths ratchet. But to fill it there is a 17mm. bolt on the top of the tranny case, not hardto see if you look straight down on the top of the case.Just take a long funnel and fill it that way...

My mechanic at honda recommends changing the tranny fluid every 15k miles. He really doesn't say why, just to do it. I don't really know if helps to do it this frequently. With what I've heard about honda's trannys, it makes sense to do it.

6gen AV6 having problems their transmissions so it much cheaper to replace fluid every 15Kml or once a year or pay $3,500 to rebuild ($5,500 dealer replacement quote) after 4year of operation.

i do.
my tranny just got rebuilt and should be put into car as we speak. i only have 53Kml on my 99 AV6.

do you know Honda extended warranty on transmissions for Acoord V6, Acura TL & CL to 100Kml?
i do, because Honda is #2 in world for repeated buyers and they need to take care their customers, other wise they will go away from Honda product.

for more info on transmission problems you can visit these places -> v6performance.net & v6accord.com

I have an 02 accord, and my mechanic told me to change the tranny fluid every 12K, but he gave me a reason. He said that my transmission does not have a filter in it, like the older American cars, so the tranny fluid gets dirty faster, thus needs to be changed a lot more often. When I explained to him that my owner's manual says to change it at 120,000 miles, he said, "I think it's a misprint, because you're not the 1st person to tell me that". So who knows....

Its hard to tell whos right or wrong because everyone takes care of their car and drive differently. So the only answer is right at the dip stick. Change the tranny oil when you see it's cloudy/dark color and has burnt oder.

Easiest way is to buy a quart of Honda Z1 tranny fluid and drop a drop of oil on the paper towl and a drop of oil from your tranny and compair the color. Slightly darker shouldnt post a problem but if its noticibly darker than yea you should change it.

Also don't forget to check the level (turn the car on and wait til reach normal operation temperature, shift gear from P and move one by one slowly to D1 and move it back to park.) You will have about 1 min to check the level.
