car making sounds

My 1994 Bonneville makes a loud vibrating sound when the car gets above 45 MPH. It doesn't always make this sound, and it makes it more often in colder weather. Intially thought it was the wheel bearings, but a mechanic said it wasn't. Any ideas of what it might be?
