1999 GA SE - Timing belt or chain?

Which does the 2.4l have? How easy (or difficult - looking for easy, though) it is to replace? Cost?

It's a chain, and if you are going to do this yourself its a difficult job. There isn't alot of room to move around the engine compartment in these cars. Get a manual, follow the directions in it. If the timing chain is off 2 teeth the valves will hit the pistons. Good luck, parts should cost less than $200.

Thanks for the info. Since it's a chain, I am less inclined to replace it and proabably will not.
