Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately it sounds transmission related. Check the transmission fluid level and top off if needed. Have someone check to see if the shift linkage has come loose. Beyond that, it sounds like the transmission is gone. If you drain the fluid and drop the transmission fluid pan you'll likely see chunks of metal on the pan and trapped in the filter. If thats the case, start looking for a new transmission or a new car. I hope I'm not thinking of something and I'm wrong.

I have to agree with RIP. Your problem definitely sounds transmission related. You might want to call around to transmission shops in your area and get prices on what they would charge to check it out and what they would charge if a total rebuild is necessary. Checking on the fluid level first definitely is a good idea.

You would have to get underneath and look. Ideally, block the wheels, jack it up, and install jackstands. Short of that, drive one side up on a curb, put it in park, set the brake, and block the wheels. Then lay on your back and scoot under the car. Have someone move the gearshift lever and watch the linkage.

If you end up replacing or rebuilding the transmission make sure they also replace the torque converter. If the transmission ate itself, metal chips usually get trapped in the converter. Those chips will destroy the new transmission if the converter isn't changed. Same goes for the transmission cooler in the bottom of the radiator. Make sure it gets flushed out.

hey guys so i had a guy come out 2 see what the problem was and he said that it was the front seal between the transmission and engine. he said that its gone and thats y it wont move at all and he said that a repair would cost about $500 just 4 the seal and in most cases if its not that than it would be the transmission and that would cost up 2 another $1000. if u guys have a better way of knowing how 2 fix this please let me know. i would buy the tools my self if its cheaper and work on it my self tell me what u guys thing about it.
