Outside Temp displays ERR

The outside temperature display on my 02 Winstar displays either a very high temp (120 F) or ERR!

Any ideas what could be the problem?

The high temp/ERR signal indicates an open connection to the sensor. Either the temp sensor is bad or the wiring/connector has come loose somewhere.
