Exclamation Tranny Problem

Hi,

I have a 1993 Camry V6 with a Automatic Tranny, It will not shift into 2nd until the fluid is warmed up. There's nothing wrong with my fluid since it was replaced recently.

Could it be a faulty Torque Converter/sensor?

Thanks,

Re: Tranny Problem

you need a proper diagnosis done with a road test and pressure test to diagnose any further besides the simple things I will mention below. I doubt it has anything to do with the torque converter.

Is it throwing any codes? (ie O/D light blinking?) Are you sure the fluid level is ok? This is sometimes a sign of low fluid. Check the trans fluid stick before you start it up in the morning and verify the fluid is above the cold mark. Did it do this prior to the recent fluid change service? When it does shift into second eventually after warming up, is it a normal feeling shift or is it slipping or jerky? You may also want to get your shift linkage cable checked to make sure it hasn't slipped.

Re: Tranny Problem

Even though it shifts normally hot, check the fluid level in PARK when it's hot, level surface, and after it's been driven a while, and with the engine idling after shifting through all the gears.
