Re: Getting fuel out of the tank

Good luck. As a result of the gas crisis in the '70s, many car makers added features such as a bend in the filler neck or baffles to prevent siphoning the gas in the tank. That doesn't mean however that it's impossible. You can drop the tank carefully and drain it once the tank is out of the vehicle , or energize the fuel pump and disconnect the fuel line and drain it into a container.

Re: Getting fuel out of the tank

If the vehicle can run, just run it until it runs out of gas. But I'm guessing that isn't the case.

The 2nd time I dropped mine, the tank was about half full. I put a stack of 2x4s under each end of the tank to support it after the straps were removed. After the weight was on the 2x4s, I removed one from one end, then one from the other. Going back and forth there really wasn't much weight that ever needed to be lifted and it came down without a problem. Then just slide it out. If you are on rough concrete, put a rug or something under it so that the plastic doesn't rub.
