Re: 2000 3.8L MAF sensor bad?
I'm having kind of the same thing going on. For the past couple of weeks the car has been surging at high speeds when letting off the gas. Well the last couple of days my car started doing it at any speed. Today the engine light finally came on so I could test it and came up with the same code of P0102.
The guy that tested it said it sounds like a vacuum leak because it has a sucking sound coming from the tube that connects the Air filter to the engine. We took off the Air filter, and the tube, that holds the O2 sensor, and still get the vacuum sound come from what looks like the sensor that is by the carb. I'm not sure what the sound is coming from but I know it still makes the noise for about 5 sec's after you shut the car off?
We do not see any where, where there would be a leak in any of the lines. Could that sound be the Mapping sensor?
While I have it apart is there anything I should be looking for/replacing, before putting it back together?
sorry for High Jacking your thread, but your situations sound close to mine and help me explain it thanks.
TIA
Lonnie
