KA rough idle93-240SX-COUPE 04-15-2007, 06:58 PM Got a question guys. My engine has been idling pretty rough lately so I decided to check to see if one of my spark plugs was out. I check them, they're all fine. So I decided to check if my spark plug wires were bad, so as the car was running I pulled the wires 1 by 1. So I pull the 1st & nothing happens, exactly the same idle. I pull 2, 3, & 4, & each time the engine starts to idle more rough. This got me thinking that the 1st wire was bad. So I pull it out again while running & its still clicking (firing). So...: 1) Its not the wire or spark plug right? 2) Could it be that my damn cylinder went out on me? Thanks in advance. P.S. KA-DE w/ 190k+ JohnStrong240sx 04-16-2007, 01:11 AM Try checking that cylinders compression. If all is well, replace the wire and check inside your dist.cap for wear. Good luck. Hope its just the wire. RC88 04-17-2007, 01:44 PM i have a '91 240 that was idleing rough bout a week ago. i put some seafoam in the gas tank and it fixed it in just a couple miles. it's less than $10 at almost any car store. just remember to read how much to put in before u do. slideways... 04-17-2007, 05:35 PM sea foam wont fix this. if one cylinder isnt firing, its something that needs replacing or fixing. check compression, check fuel injector. 93-240SX-COUPE 04-18-2007, 01:07 PM Whats up guys. Well I didnt wanna pay someone to tell me that I had no compression in my 1st cylinder so I researched a little and I ended up trying the Restore "Engine Restorer". It worked. I put it in at the Pep Boys when I bought it and drove to school, 50 miles away. Before I got to school I noticed a difference. So today when I had a chance I checked under the hood. The 1st cylinder is back on. I let the car run, pulled the first wire, and immedietly noticed a rougher idle. Checked the other ones too and when I pulled those the car began to idle even more rough then before I applied the Restore. So Im pretty sure I have better compression in all the other cylinders too. Thanks for the help though guys. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
