*Newb* Engine Light Question

Hi to the forums =) Im a n00blet so go easy on me.

Alright, so, I just got my car (2000 Cav 4-door, 150km) looked over by a mechanic, battery changed, pads and rotors changed, he looked over the front end saying everything was O.K. besides my exhaust. I knew it was going to go.

Today the Check Engine Light goes on. So I'm wondering if I should bring it to a mechanic or wait a little while to see if it goes out?

Autozone checks the codes for free, see what they say.

cavy's are notorious for the gas cap setting off the light, if you don't get it on tight enough... plus other stupid stuff... mine's been on for a year straight, no crap..lol

Soo to the Bay if you know what I mean. Ya to bad there isn`t somewhere to get the free scans done like in the US. Just had my Silvy in for a service , I know the tech ,asked a couple of questions about the engine . Out came the scanner ,quick check , no charge ...........lol. lucked out this time ,maybe you`ll do the same seeing as he just looked at it. Good Luck

Ah yes thats not a bad run though, 4-4.5 hours?

I know a bunch of independant mechanics so hopefully they can check them for free. I go to school in the trades so maybe ill get some cross trade action haha
