Put your Bet Down!!
Starting a virtual pool....
Looking at my sig,,,
1) Which will go first, a 10 bolt rear-end, or my T-5 tranny?
2) How long will it last?
This conversation started in a different thread...seemed like a good poll!

Re: Put your Bet Down!!
if they're both stock they'll probably both go pretty quick.
my friend's truck is notorious for breaking gearboxes and diffs. big torque numbers through drivetrain parts that aren't very strong built means trouble. i helped him rebuild the two diffs and a gearbox once because he'd done a hard lanch and taken all the teeth off first, and all the teeth off both diffs.
you want to get the drivetrain sorted before you have fun, being stranded with a broken 'box or diff really isn't fun. believe me, i've spent many an hour at the side of a motorway after a drivetrain failure with friends' vehicles.

Re: Put your Bet Down!!
I say T5.
Unless you dead hook, that rear end will last a little longer than the tranny.

Re: Put your Bet Down!!
T-5...
Power has goes through the tranny before the rear, its just logical.

Re: Put your Bet Down!!
and if the tranny's stronger than the rear, the rear will go first.
the highest torque rating for a stock T-5 is 300lb/ft. so with your engine work you'll probably break it very quickly.

Re: Put your Bet Down!!
I'd go with the tranny as well, but I've seen 3rd gen rears go without warning after a few hard launches and no damage to the tranny.
