2004 T&C only stalls after filling with gasChryslerowner 04-11-2007, 02:43 PM This problem started occuring after the van had about 30,000 miles on it. Van runs excellent in all types of weather (cold, hot, rainy). Whenever we fill up with gas, the van starts up fine and even drives fine once we leave the station. But after driving about a hundred yards, the van will start bucking and then stalls. Or in other cases it stalls after stopping at an intersection after filling up. In most cases it starts up fine and runs great from then on until the next fill-up. This only happens after we fill up with gas. Shop says "no light", then "no problem". I hate to start replacing multiple parts if someone out there has had a similar problem and knows the fix. Thanks webbch 04-11-2007, 03:02 PM The first thing I would do is check the fuel pressure. However, since the problem is currently intermittent, this may not show up. Therefore, I'd probably also replace the fuel filter if it hadn't been done recently. This is a maintence item anyway, and it's pretty cheap. If none of the above suggestions provide anything useful, then the symptoms you describe make me wonder if the problem isn't some kind of blockage at the fuel pump - anyone know if there is some kind of "screen" at the fuel pump that tends to get clogged? jsinton 04-11-2007, 05:30 PM There's a screen in the fuel pump, but it's more likely to get clogged and not run right at the end of a given tank, and not after you fill up. Try replacing the fuel filter first. jorgeda1 09-04-2009, 11:08 AM I am having the same issue with my van. Were you ever able to resolve the issue? Did replacing the fuel filter help. RIP 09-04-2009, 03:05 PM I am having the same issue with my van. Were you ever able to resolve the issue? Did replacing the fuel filter help. Have you tried not quite filling the tank, say maybe 1/8 th below full? When you fill the tank do you top it off meaning keep clicking the nozzle after the automatic click off? What I'm getting at is a saturated EVAP canister as a result of over filling. It may be effecting the tank vent cutting off fuel to the pump. Just a theory. pentabob 09-05-2009, 07:00 AM Just another quick thought, you may have water in the tank, normally the water will just sit on the bottom of the tank (being heavier than gas) and the pick-up point for the pump is above the very bottom for this reason, however when you fill up you are also stirring up the gas and water and perhaps it's getting picked up causing your problem until it re-settles to the bottom of the tank again. Virtually every tank has some amount of water, it cant be helped, and usually wont cause a problem but perhaps along the way you have accumulated enough where it is now causing an issue. Just food for thought, please let us know what you find Bob plymouthsrock 09-05-2009, 10:27 AM I'd have to go with RIP here- it sounds like an EVAP problem. Van ever have an accident? The EVAP cannister (front) could have been damaged, or vapor lines (from tank to front). Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
