stripping paint off aluminum rims??

ive got some unknown 13" aluminum rims on my turbo firefly and the previous owner for some reason painted the aluminum rims body colour and they are peeling and cracked so im wondering how i can strip them without having to tedo the clearcoat on the rims (or if i have to reclear them what product would work for it)

anyone know the brand of these rims by any chance?

and if worst comes to worst ill throw some used tires and steelie rims on it while i do all the stripping (its my DD)

Re: stripping paint off aluminum rims??

first. you picture doesnt work... second, if you strip the paint it will bring it down to bare metal.. if you want to clearcoat it, any automotive clearcoat should be fine.

Nothing strips paint faster, more efficiently, or as economically as Plastic Media Blasting. End of story.
