Keep Cabrio or get BMW

Folks, I am the happy owner of a 98 Cabrio - 56,000 miles. I have an opportunity to get a 94 BMW 325i convertible - 66,000 miles. What are your opinions: get BMW or keep Cabrio?

Re: Keep Cabrio or get BMW

I assume you are talking about the VW Cabrio?

I'd get the BMW.

Re: Keep Cabrio or get BMW

Yes. We have had the VW for two years. Great little car. I love 3-series convertibles. Saw one for sale this weekend. I am spooked by upscale german models because of a bad experience with a Mercedes. I can afford to buy, just can't afford to keep.

I also almost bought a 1994 540i until I found out the 100,000 mile warrenty on the engine was due to BWM's knowledge of potential engine failure (cylinder scoring).

I know this is a BMW forum - therefore biased, but I am looking for honest opinions or experiences. Is it possible my heart is trumping my head?

Well of course here your going to get BMW biased answers. But you shouldnt let a bad experiance with a Mercedes keep you from buying a great car. The 325i 2.5L inline 6 is a such a great engine that it makes me want one right now. They can last into 200k mile range reliably. Plus that car was a Mercedes, a car not known for its reliability. BMWs are for sure the highest quality cars of German cars. So the BMW is going to be a good car.
