Painting Calipers and Drumsyhandor 03-30-2007, 05:46 AM Hey, My drums, are rusty, and the calipers have some too. I want to paint em, do I need to sand them? or just paint over? And what kinda paint? and do i prime or clearcoat? Thanks guys! xeroinfinity 03-30-2007, 09:04 AM The rust should be cleaned off first. You want caliper paint, as its special for high heat. Dupli Color sells a kit that comes with a can of cleaner and a small can(8oz.) of ceramic paint. Its enough to do all four calipers if you use 3-4 thin coats. Thiers full directions with the kit, runs about $12-15. Classicrocjunkie 03-30-2007, 10:10 AM please don't paint your drums any thing other than black. But yea, get a steel brush and go really at em. When i did my calipers. I removed the brake rotors and then installed the calipers and painted them that way instead of removing them from the vehicle. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
