Exclamation True Oil Pressure Gauge

Anyone know if there is a spot on a 98 4.3 engine, Other then the sending unit area, where you can pipe in a permanent true oil pressure gauge? If so where?

Re: True Oil Pressure Gauge

I have never found one.
Best bet is just get some fittings and T it in at oil sending unit area.
Good luck

Re: True Oil Pressure Gauge

Hey MT, Ya think the "T" will have any adverse effect on the Electric oil pressure gauge if I tap into it, At the oil sending unit? That's most likely the route I will go to install a permanent true gauge to the engine...

Thanks for any and all help...

Re: True Oil Pressure Gauge

The electric sending unit will not even know it is T in.
But I would put a new sending unit on.
And route the line for the manual gauge line where it does not rub or burn threw.
The plastic line works good for it.
Good luck

I agree with MT. A mechanical guage is just a calibrated spring guage that wont restrict flow or interfere with the electrical sender that works on resitance changes

Be aware that a mechanical guage in constant use will wear out eventualy just like the electrical units do, even if you choose to go that route fix the factory guage. Redundant guages will give you a greater safty factor. My father inlaw even went so far as to put an oil temp guage on his pickup for when he pulls his 5th wheel.

Re: True Oil Pressure Gauge

Thanks for the info guy's, I should have made myself a little more clear on this question, My electric guage is working fine. I just never trusted it, Also I wanted to see if there would be any difference's in the oil pressure readings on the True gauge vs. Electric gauge.
