1997 Trailblazer Rear Speakers Don't Work

So I just bought a 1999 Trailblazer (well, S10 Blazer w/ the TB package).

ANYWAY - the rear speakers (4-door) do not work. Where to start to diagnose if it's a short, fuse, blown....? Not sure what to do.

If you do find out the cause and fix for this problem, PLEASE post it on the board as my 2000 Blazer rear speakers do not work either. At first the problem was intermittent, and now they haven't worked at all for over a year.

Re: 1997 Trailblazer Rear Speakers Don't Work

Had the same problem with my '97 Blazer 2 years ago.
One rear speaker wasn't working. So I ordered some from Crutchfield
and replaced them.

There's no fuses on the speakers, so either they're blown, or the wiring got cut.

Take the panel off, and try a spare (if you have one) speaker.

Thanks. I see in the how-to section how to take off the panel. This thread should have read "99 Blazer", oops. I have a "spare" 97, I'll pull a rear out of that one and see what happens.

Are the front and rear speakers the same on these 4-doors?

Mine's a two door, so I can't answer that. Crutchfield.com might be able to. Enter your truck info, then search for speakers from there.

I have 6 x 9s in the back of mine, the fit without any modifying.
I think the originals were 5 x 8.
My doors look like they may be round, at least the bump-out molded into the door is round.

Re: 1997 Trailblazer Rear Speakers Don't Work

Do you have the factory deck in there? Take the Deck out make sure all the wires are plugged in tight. If they are try taking the door panels off and see if the wires are pluged in tight in there also. THere are no fuses to the speakers. If the speakers were blown they still will have sound coming out of them they will just sound really crappy. If everything is tight and if you have the factory deck installed yet try getting a aftermarket CD Player or ifyou want the factory look try to find a different one from a junk yard or try ebay.
