munched the front end

Low speed rear end job.
Any guess as to what I'll find after pulling things apart? After taking a real quick look I'll need that lower cover and some bumper supports. The bumper itself is fine. I'm going to put this in the category of it looks worse than it is...
Any help is appreciated.

Re: munched the front end

This piece seems to be designed to absorb some shock. It's held on by two bolts and each bumper bracket rests against it. I'll swap the bumper brackets, too. The driver's side turn signal needs to be replaced. I'll sand and paint any rust areas under there (bright side?).

Re: munched the front end

Looks MUCH better then mine did when I got into an accident 4yrs ago; mine was about $3k worth of damage - all mechanicals/radiator were fine though, so was the frame.

Re: munched the front end

I just put it back together and everything fits OK. The only parts I'll replace are the turn signal assembly and that square tubing behind the bumper support. I'll get the lower trim piece later.

Re: munched the front end

What's that plastic trim piece below the chrome bumper called? That's not the air deflector, is it?

Re: munched the front end

Looks like the very front of your hood is taking a beating from that Florida sun; try a coat of Mother's Cleaner Wax, possibly found at Wal-Mart, takes off any oxidation and brings the color right out.

Safe for clear coats, I've been using it on my Burgundy Rodeo after every harsh winter for the last 5yrs, to assist in pulling off any magnesium chloride left on the paint, I wait 2 weeks after applying it, and put on a good coat of Mother's syn-flex wax; truck's still just as shiney at 10yrs of age as our newly acquired burgundy '04 Tacoma.

Nice truck - love that color!

Re: munched the front end

That online catalog saved the day! I found the brackets I needed while browsing the cab mounting page. Wasn't on the frame or bumper page - go figure. So I ordered those and the painted plastic air deflector from St. Charles. All parts should be here next week. Thanks for the link trooper, I couldn't find the old thread with it. Would be much cheaper from the junkyard, but this is $200 (much less than my $500 deductible) or so and it's delivered new and to my door.

I'll try that Mother's product Ramblin'. That's one thing the daughter will do - wax the truck.

Let me add that the part is called a frame extension...
