Re: check transmission light

Jose, I had the same issue and changed my alternator. It fixed the flashing "check Trassmission" light. Go to this thread and read down through to get some tips.

Re: check transmission light

Changed alternator, still having the same problems. Anyone knows what the problem could be?

it could be a lot of things. limp mode is the trans computer's way of protecting the trans when it detects a problem. this is often electrical (hence the alternator suggestion). for example, i induced the problem by twiddling with my dash light dimmer rheostat switch, just playing around flipping it back and forth as i remembered when it was inconsistent before being replaced. i also stopped the truck, turned off the engine and restarted without a problem. i also stopped playing with the dimmer light switch.

you could have an intermittent electrical glitch that sets it off.

another thing that can set it into limp mode is overheating the trans fluid. same scenario.

so, i'd suggest you become super analytical about what you are doing, what the conditions are, etc., prior to getting the dreaded trans flash. any ideas about what precedes the flashing?

btw, you have probably read that isuzu's generally are not happy campers with rebuilt alternators that are not of the highest quality. namely they want the ones from the dealer, or rebuilt by bosch, or some say the good ones from NAPA. what did you replace yours with? if it was from a bigboxpartsstore, it could still be the problem, but i would suggest you get it tested by a competent shop *under load* before just replacing it unless you are sure it is bad.
