Astro fuel guage

Hey guys I have a 1997 Astro van the problem is the fuel guage.
When I have a full tank the guage reads full but at half tank it still reads full or 1/8 less. also guage pulsates when turn signal is on and also moves with any normal current draw.Does anybody know how to trouble shoot this. Has anybody had this problem.

There is a fuel tank level relay you need to drop the tank to check If memory serves. Chances are your float is sticking and sending a false signal in the fuel pickup sender unit.

Yes, Id say the float is sticking as well. You should try shaking the wire/cable the is attached to the float and see what happens to your gauge. That is if you can it to the darn thing.

My gas guage was intermittent. It read full all the time until it got to less than 1/4 of a tank. Sometimes it would just always read full. I examined the fuel tank sender and noticed the tines (they're like small springs that read across the card) on the sending unit were bent. If your lucky can bend these back into shape. I wasn't lucky and bought a new sending unit. It's hard to find just the sending unit without buying a whole new fuel pump for $300 but I was able to find an Ebay store that sold just the sending unit. I reused my old float and plugged it in. It works great now.
