Question About a Loose Seat

I have a 1996 Geo Tracker, and the reclining lever on the seat broke, so now it swings freely forward and backward. I've been looking for a seat in my area in a salvage yard, and have yet to find one, but in the mean while I have a question about the safety of it. I don't see how it could be a danger, but would I be in a higher likelyhood of being injured in a wreck because of my seat being this way?
