Hi guys,
I have just managed to get my hands on one of these esci kits, which I intend to add detail to. The only problem is that I have no reference shots of the car at all!!
I am thinking of transforming it into the short-tail version if I can find enough shots.
So if anyone out there has some pics they can send me, or point in the direction of where I can find them, I'd be most grateful!
Cheers
Darren

I own both the shorttail (Alitalia, Giro d' Italia '79) and the longtail (Martini, Lemans '80)Esci Beta.
References can be picture-googled (query lancia turbo, beta turbo, montecarlo, etc.), only interior and engine refs are hard to find.
The shorttail only appeared in the '79 Giro d' Italia as far as I know, and personally I feel the docking of the tail makes it look kind of out of proportion.
It's not only shortening the tail though. The air inlets beside the drivers compartment are different, a new front spoiler needs to be made, a second seat of course, the front vents above the tires need to be closed up a little, and for some stages spotlights were added.
I could always send you my pics.

Hi there RallyFanatic,
and thanks for coming back to me - I have some shots of the outside and have been doing as you suggest on the googling front! ;o) If you could send me the pics you have that would be great, thank you. The interior and engine shots are always the difficult ones to get hold of. Can you mail me on Darren at country64.freeserve.co.uk
Cheers!!

Few pics: it's teh monte owned by the famous (here) Kabibo, he used it on hill climbing comp over the '80 and may be '90, now he use it as pace car in ita rallyes and climb hill comp. You'll see some mods (steering weel, 2nd seat, dashboard (part of), exaust (shorten)) but the base is the original Montecarlo Gr5, at this point I guess he rebuilt it several times. It's a razor: I seen in action at Ferrari's track and it's awesome: 500+HP on a so little (well not thiny LOL) stuff is something. It have a switch "on off" insthead a throttle device LOL. Enjoy.

Hi again Gionc,
Thanks for the great pics - I would been in heaven at that event - an 037 AND a Group 5!! Now all I need to do is get all of the pics together and decide what version to build!
I do remember the advertising at the time - love the Lancia in Battledress one, and my favourite was along the lines of Porsche & BMW - eat our dirt!! Too cool!!
Thanks again guys!!

I built the clear body Martini version several years ago. Found it at a swap meet for $5! Some fit issues but overall a really a nice kit. That photo-etch set looks excellent! If you ever decide to produce it I would definitely be interested as I still have the Alitalia version to build.

Sorry, as said...no way for a new production, I'm on other stuff now.
I have also a clear version (Esci) and decals from Cartograf have the right Martini colors and aren't yellowed like in the Heller version. Btw all the stuff I have (except for the first Heller one) wasn't bought for cheap, unfortunately. This car overtake often 50 eur on ebay.

That's a damn shame Gionc, as I'd be up for at least one set of that PE.
Is there no way of reproducing it, or getting someone else to (with permission of course)?

Sorry... cost too much. Hoping to have the time to use mine in my stuff :D I choose the Monte as entry in the former AF '80 contest but I waste all the time designing the set..
