The link below should give you an idea. Do you plan on installing new rotors or getting the old ones turned?

Be sure to use quality name brand pads and rotors. I've had good success with Raybestos PG (Professional Grade) rotors and ceramic pads. No squeaking, good stopping power and minimal brake dust.

thank you- I never did this before so I might have someone else do it. Is it hard to learn?

Jerry,

If you are interested in working on your own vehicle I would say do it - changing disc brake pads is probably the easiest repair that requires tools.

The instructions Bob has pointed to are very good and you shouldn’t have trouble following them. One thing – in step 6 – compressing with the c-clamp you may need a thin board to lay across the piston to put the clamp against. You don’t want to put metal to metal on the piston and you will get more even pressure on it. Also only do one side at a time so you can use the other side as a visual reference if needed.

I’m by no means a master mechanic but little by little I’ve been doing more and more. Once you complete one repair you will be less intimidated to attempt a different one.
