There are a few nice shops around.. > The Orchard Store -- At Specialist Shopping Centre > Central Hobby Plus -- At CentrePoint > Tai Seng -- Importer for Tamiya.. great deal > A small hobby shop at Far East Plaza > A small hobby shop at Tiong Bahru Shopping Centre > A small but well stocked hobby shop at the Katong Shopping Centre Umm... where's the one at Marina Sq?? Can't seem to remember any... or is it a new shop?? I have been in Aust for too long I think.. :p Any other shops I missed out???? Forhod 10-07-2002, 11:58 AM I got them from Tai Sing, or maybe even Popular BookShop :) And try getting from Wong too!~ :) His website : http://asiapac.worldpay.com/cnb/shop/mediamixhobby bibendumz 10-07-2002, 02:59 PM well, to add to the list, there is a newly opened hobby shop in Jurong east IMM. its a branch of the hobby shop in Tiong Bahru Plaza. There's another 1 at Grandlink near Paya Lebar MRT station specialized in cars and bikes. for further details of the location of the shops, you may email me at bibendumz@yahoo.com. Forhod 10-08-2002, 12:23 PM Geez, I was wondering.. where can I get discounted kits, rims and spoiler in Singapore? :D ( On budget! ;) ) surreal 10-09-2002, 08:09 AM seems to me that the prices of car kits are quite standard in singapore......costing ard 28.90 for a normal tamiya kit and 30++ for better kits from tamiya,fujimi,revell....etc Forhod 10-09-2002, 11:46 AM I agree, everywhere is almost the same price but sometimes, popular have discount :) Still.. where got get spoilers and rims.. Rcaerosport 10-09-2002, 01:52 PM For discounts, wait till the major retail outlet has Sales, like Isetan etc. normally, its 20% off, though don't expect an awesome range...... For wheels..looks like you will have to mail-order for Fujimi and Aoshima. Perhaps the Singapore builders can combine together for a group buy... Derek njh 10-09-2002, 02:04 PM Forhod: There is a shop at Grandlink Square, Paya Lebar selling rims and also the aoshima 3 piece wing set. But it cos rather expensive, i guy at the shop told me the price for the rims are between S$10.90 to S$18.90 if i remembered correctly, and the 3 piece spoiler set i think is around S$20. I just went down last week and they are having a 20% discounts on quite a number of models. surreal 10-10-2002, 09:32 AM thanx for all your contributions.....gonna grab some real bargains from those places!! Forhod 10-10-2002, 12:39 PM Thanks for the info njh. But my pocket is real tight and moreover I am currently now at my final year exam period. Guess I have to wait for their next sale! ~ :p njh 10-10-2002, 08:47 PM :) Welcome, I am also having my exams soon. :) twoninety 10-10-2002, 09:38 PM Never thought I'd see so many modellers from singapore contributing to this forum. :) If we can save on shipping maybe we can order in bulk from HLJ or something. Forhod 10-11-2002, 04:11 AM Originally posted by twoninety Never thought I'd see so many modellers from singapore contributing to this forum. :) If we can save on shipping maybe we can order in bulk from HLJ or something. Its sounds a great deal :p What I really need is GT Wings and.. probably rims!~ zetaet 10-11-2002, 07:11 AM Umm... sounds gd... any1 knows who is the importer for fujimi n aoshima in sg??? For tamiya... it's Tai Seng... Tai Seng used to b the importer for Tamiya n Fujimi... they give discount if u just walk into their showroom also.. ;P sausage 10-11-2002, 07:51 AM Tai Sing has brought in some fujimi stuff recently, from the tuning evo series. zetaet 10-11-2002, 07:55 AM umm.. so are they still the fujimi importer??? Forhod 10-11-2002, 12:09 PM I did see some Fujimi models there but not alot compare to Tamiya. And I still buy from them with the same price on the market in Singapore  bibendumz 10-11-2002, 01:15 PM hmmm.....all singaporeans......maybe we can all come together, for outings to hobby shops for more bargaining power or share views and discussions.... anyone for it???? Forhod 10-11-2002, 01:20 PM Count me in! bibendumz 10-11-2002, 05:47 PM hmmm.....all singaporeans......maybe we can all come together, for outings to hobby shops for more bargaining power or share views and discussions.... anyone for it???? interested singaporeans pls email me at bibendumz@yahoo.com, pls state your nickname, real name, contact no. etc..:flamer: surreal 10-12-2002, 06:18 AM anyone knows where's the location of tai seng show room? Forhod 10-12-2002, 01:57 PM Geez, I don't really know which one is their showroom but... An extract from Tai Sing FAQ. Qns : Can i view your warehouse or showroom if i happens to be in Singapore? Ans :es you can. For more information, please contact us at Tel no. 65-291 2633. *Edit : ( Tell me what you know if you call that number :p ) But I visit at this place. Tai Sing Corporation Pte Ltd 732, North Bridge Road Singapore 198700 That place is hard to find at first but now I now the way :) Get my paints from there.. but they ran out of white primer... Where can I get white primer now.. njh 10-12-2002, 10:27 PM I think you can try the shop at Tiong Bahru Plaza for the white primer. Forhod 10-13-2002, 01:19 AM Okey thanks. I'll check it out. ronaldlaw 10-13-2002, 02:27 PM hello, I'm newbabies here...Just wonder this website is from which country?I have watch all buddys here got there self ITR,S2000...hondas enthusiasts here..ahhaaaa:) :) :) I also honda enthusiasts...I just bought a fujimi ITR DC2...last week at singapore bugis juction shopping... bibendumz 10-14-2002, 06:53 PM I also honda enthusiasts...I just bought a fujimi ITR DC2...last week at singapore bugis juction shopping In my opinion, that hobby shop in Bugis Junction is way over priced. its kits can reached up to over $60. Somemore the finished car kits on display sucks...poor workmanship with just lots of clear paints. sausage 10-14-2002, 07:30 PM They do have 2 nice models on display.. the Warsteiner CLK-DTM and the silver Peugeot 206. The finish on those 2 stands out, and the 206 has photoetched parts. mediamixhobby 10-14-2002, 07:47 PM Hi Singapore guys and gals, What's your idea of the perfect hobby shop? Location? Prices? Range? Service? Bao-ka liao? cheers, Wong zetaet 10-14-2002, 09:11 PM Originally posted by bibendumz In my opinion, that hobby shop in Bugis Junction is way over priced. its kits can reached up to over $60. Somemore the finished car kits on display sucks...poor workmanship with just lots of clear paints. Heheh... I agree with you man... that shop in Bugis is a rip off... remember the last time when they used to have a huge shop... now its just a little corner... heheh.. The price there is not justified... and if you ask them anytihng abt car models... they then to talk big... try it out... :D twoninety 10-14-2002, 11:01 PM I usually go to the shop at Far East plaza. The guy there (can't remember his name) is very friendly. Forhod 10-15-2002, 02:21 AM Hmm, maybe one day I'll drop by Bugis and check it out. :) Pretty curious what they got there. Originally posted by mediamixhobby Hi Singapore guys and gals, What's your idea of the perfect hobby shop? Location? Prices? Range? Service? Bao-ka liao? cheers, Wong Hehe, Wong the best :p Rcaerosport 10-15-2002, 02:24 AM Hmm..If I recall, they didn't clean up all the panel lines on the Peugeot 206.... The CLK though, was pretty good. For hobby shops, with all the forums now a days, prices are most important, since a wealth of information can be found at various places, and Wong has one of the best prices and range worldwide eh. Derek sausage 10-15-2002, 02:52 AM Hey Wong, why don't you set up a real shop? You've got a ton of stuff others don't have. For 1/43s I usually check out F1 World near bugis junction, and for cars I buy them at miniature hobby at marina. I hear they're expecting a bunch of fujimi civics soon. If we can show them there's a demand they'll definitely bring in more fujimi stuff next time. Me, I'll probably get at least 2 civics for myself. Rcaerosport 10-15-2002, 03:34 AM I think the problem with setting up is the rental cost among other problems, and this may cause his prices to go up? Also, car modellers are still a rather niche market here, not like armour or planes. How many customers can he draw setting up a shop, selling only cars and alcad? Unless we stake out his store everyday...hehe.... Forhod 10-15-2002, 03:41 AM Hmm..I wanna get one of the Civic!~ Damn cool!~ Where's the store? bibendumz 10-15-2002, 04:11 AM What's your idea of the perfect hobby shop? Location? Prices? Range? Service? Bao-ka liao? well...in my opinion, there cant be a perfect hobby shop for everyone. location - i will not mind the location because everywhere in singapore is considered near. Preferably the location is easily accessible by public transport. Prices - i felt that price is extremely important given the fact where most modellers are still students. To me, a kit which cost over $60 in some hobby shop(s) is way too expensive. (their knives are indeed sharp) Range - of coz the wider the range of kits the better. Service - internet buying, i have not tried yet due to the fact i do not have a visa or credit card. Troublesome to get bank orders and risking the fact the purchase may not sent to you due to many reasons. As for hobby shops in Spore, some treats u like glass when u walk in and their common quote is "all stocks on the shelf" or "don't have that in spore". bao ka liao - there is a price to pay for bao ka liao. of cause everybody will not mind if the price is reasonable. ronaldlaw 10-15-2002, 02:24 PM bibendumz,Rcaerosport,sausage,twoninety,njh..Pleas a stated ur contact nubmer here...Next time when i at sing i try find out all experts here for gathering...And my contact number is 012 2399966..U can SMS me by this number +60122399966 thank man! twoninety 10-15-2002, 09:13 PM Originally posted by bibendumz location - i will not mind the location because everywhere in singapore is considered near. I think that the most important thing to me is that the staff of the store will let me browse in peace. The staff at Bugis were all over me like a hawk. I don't think i look like a crook.. may have longer than average hair but that's all. That's why I like the shop at Far East. He lets me browse in peace everytime. :) sausage 10-16-2002, 05:21 AM Originally posted by twoninety I think that the most important thing to me is that the staff of the store will let me browse in peace. The staff at Bugis were all over me like a :) That is very true, and I don't go there much anymore. There's another shop near redhill where this old lady keeps staring at me non-stop as I browse. One of their staff was even staring at me wide-eyed for at least 10 minutes one day.. I just gave her an angry stare and walked out. zetaet 10-16-2002, 08:17 AM Originally posted by sausage That is very true, and I don't go there much anymore. I just dont understand y they have to resort to such actions... I can understand that 10yrs ago i look like a beng.. but not now at least... Personally.. i will avoid those unfriendly shop... a friendly shop is the orchard store at specialist... try it.. Forhod 10-16-2002, 12:05 PM loLZ!~ All Ah beng ah here? loLz.. :x j/k I just dropped by Bugis the shop. Roy's Hobby Shop I suppose.. The tamiya kits there are standard price .. but for the fujimi? Rcaerosport 10-16-2002, 03:27 PM BTW, I have some models I wish to sell. Do drop me a PM or e-mail if interested. Mainly F-1 models, but with some other rally models. Regards, Derek srlxy 10-17-2002, 11:35 PM Hi modellers in Singapore. Would like to make friends with all of you. I would like to include your completed model cars in my webpage. Hope you guys can check it out and e-mail to me. Page is updated nearly every week. Included are also shops in Singapore. www.sr-garage.com Forhod 10-18-2002, 05:15 AM Hi there and welcome to AF  Your website is great with those infomations :) sausage 10-18-2002, 07:11 AM I have a scale modeling message board for singaporean hobbyists... the main focus is on sci-fi stuff, but I do cars as well. You can check it out at http://machinemess.singaporeanimenews.net njh 10-18-2002, 07:14 AM Nice site you have srlxy. mediamixhobby 10-18-2002, 07:17 PM Hi guys and gals, Thanks for the feedback on the model shop 'survey'. Like Derek said, having a physical shop would increase the cost and price of the items. Hence, I'm staying virtual for the time being. Another reason is I've more overseas customers than local! I guess the locals (myself included :-)) would like to touch and feel before buying. Anyway, give my web-shop (URL below) a look and try. My offer: free postage in Singapore for cash payments. BTW, if you are looking for Alcad II, drop me an email or PM, I've stock. cheers, Wong [S]ky|ine 10-22-2002, 10:06 AM Last week, i went down to the hobbyshop at Paya labar, Grandlink Square and it has lots of model cars(example: Aoshima, Fujimi, Tamiya)!!! It also sell Rims, Decals and some parts to make your model car look sporty!!! I brought one Nissan Skyline 25GT R34 from Fujimi and its bodykit looks cool! I have draw a map of where the Grandlink Square located and hope can help you all!;) Evoseven 10-22-2002, 07:45 PM u sure ornot? sounds like u r advertising for them. r u the owner? y not just be honest? Nothing wrong with that. No prob at all. srlxy 10-22-2002, 09:04 PM Haha, Actually the shop at Grand Link Square has many accessories and they are many on cars and bikes! Some cars in Singapore can be found only there as other places do not import them. Sorry to say this, but some of their stock are a little over priced. The rest are well worth it! Only that getting there is a little difficult. And the shop owner sometimes open late or is missing for a long time so making me wait outside for so long...
