87 Power ram, a few questionsFirewind 03-08-2007, 09:38 PM I'm posting this for a friend, who I fear may have no idea what he's talking about. I haven't seen the truck yet, since I live 25 miles from him. He wants to grab a dodge power ram from his father, it has some problems, of course. From what he told me there is a mitsubishi motor (2.6L) in the truck, that has carb problems. I wasn't ware the dodge used mitsubishi motors in their car, let alone I guess I wasn't fully aware that mitsubishi's used carbs back in 87 let alone dodge still used them, but I don't know much about either manufacturer. What I need to know: To know what model of motor is in side of his truck. Does this sound like some kind of hybrid motor swap, or did dodge use mitubishi motors in their pickup trucks? And would their really be carbs in an 87 dodge pickup? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks fredjacksonsan 03-15-2007, 01:15 PM The Mitsubishi trucks in the late 80's were marketed as Ram 50's. If it's a small pickup, Ram 50, it's a Mitsubishi. scoopy03 03-16-2007, 12:07 AM yes it would have a carb and a mitsu engine in it i have a dodge raider with a 2.6l mitsu engine in it and it has mitsu all over it :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: BleedDodge 03-16-2007, 09:31 PM Firewind's a wicked band. sneakybert 03-21-2007, 10:28 PM Good luck . I hope this truck is free . A 1987 2.6 l with a mikuni carb is going to need a lot of attention . These things self destruct when the oil pump and or timing chain fails . The engine usually rattles and gives fair warning before she grenades . scoopy03 03-26-2007, 11:47 PM Good luck . I hope this truck is free .
